Metallic foil printing is a special process which incorporates a 5 color process by adding the 5th color for the metallic foil. It allows total freedom for a designer to integrate the metallic foil into the artwork creating a special metallic effect. The best way to describe the effect is to visualize the chocolate metal wrapper being fused into the designated areas of the design. The foil is capable of taking on the overlaying color, however since foil is silver the final output will be whatever color used combined with silver which can make colors a lot lighter. The designer will have to compensate for this.
